Naxieli
Naxieli Gomez (pronounced Nah-yeh-lee) is an award-winning Creative Director and Product Designer whose work lives at the intersection of fine art, brand systems, and civic technology. Born and raised in Mexico City, she brings a rare depth of cultural perspective and artistic rigor to every project she touches: from complex product ecosystems to oil paintings that hang in studios and galleries.
Naxieli holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Academia de San Carlos at UNAM, one of the oldest and most prestigious art schools in the Americas, where she was selected for an international scholarship and thesis residency at the Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain. That foundation in fine art (in composition, color, storytelling, and the patient pursuit of craft) is the thread that runs through everything she does as a designer.
Her career spans two continents and two distinct creative worlds. She co-founded Design Diseño NY in New York City, a bilingual studio serving cultural institutions including El Museo del Barrio, The South Street Seaport, and The Broadway League. She later built NaxDesign into a full-service creative practice with clients ranging from National Geographic Latin America and Médicos Sin Fronteras to ScotiaBank Mexico and Canal 22, where she art directed the animated television series ¿Qué Dicen los Mayas? Her motion graphics work for Canal Once Mexico earned two BDA Promax Awards, a Gold and a Silver, for in-house promotional animation.
In 2019, Naxieli joined Civitech as its founding designer. Starting from nothing, she built the entire visual and product design foundation for a growing civic tech company, creating distinct brand identities and design systems for every product in the suite, including CampaignOS, RunningMate, NVI, BallotReady, and BallotCure, while maintaining a cohesive overarching visual language across marketing, communications, and product. Six years later, she continues to lead all creative and design work across the Civitech ecosystem, shaping how democracy tools look, feel, and communicate to the people who use them.
Alongside her design practice, Naxieli maintains an active studio painting practice, working primarily in oil. Her paintings, bold, emotionally direct, and deeply rooted in her Mexican identity, explore themes of resilience, transformation, and the natural world. She paints at Canopy Studios in Austin, Texas, where she lives with her son.
Naxieli brings to every role what most designers can't: the fine art instinct to see the whole before the parts, the technical range to work across brand, product, and motion, and the leadership experience to build and direct creative teams from the ground up. She is at her best when the problem is complex, the stakes are real, and the work has to matter.
